Anime Expeditions Psychic Archetype Guide and Unit List

Browse the documented Psychic unit list, understand its neutral stage design and decide when Toy Maker or Puppet fits an Anime Expeditions team.

The Psychic Archetype marks units that deal Psychic Archetype damage. It is the smallest current Archetype index: the checked Anime Expeditions community Wiki lists Toy Maker, Puppet and Puppet (Telekinetic). The overview describes Psychic as “neutral,” always remaining undebuffed in stages while intentionally having no designated buffer.

That is a specific Archetype design note, not a promise that Psychic units ignore every game mechanic. It does not automatically prove immunity to enemy crowd control, named effects, elemental resistance, targeting rules or future modifiers. Read the current stage and unit panels before building around the neutral description.

Reference snapshot: the Archetype overview and Psychic index were checked July 28, 2026. The three names below follow the reference page. Exact live stage treatment, unit costs, abilities, banner availability and effect interactions need in-game confirmation.

What “neutral” means—and what it does not

The reference Archetype overview contrasts Psychic with Physical and Magical. Physical and Magical have units that buff their respective groups. Psychic is described as remaining undebuffed in stages and having no designated buffer. This makes Psychic a potential answer when a stage rule directly penalizes another Archetype.

The wording is narrower than full immunity. A Psychic unit can still have an Element, and a stage or enemy may refer to that Element. Toy Maker is listed as Dark. Puppet and Puppet (Telekinetic) are listed as Light. If an enemy resists Dark or Light, the Psychic label does not erase that second field unless the live rule explicitly says so.

The neutral description also does not tell you whether a unit is affordable, how many targets it hits, whether it controls enemies, or how it performs against a boss. Those are unit-level mechanics. Use Psychic as one filter in a decision, not the whole decision.

How to choose between Toy Maker and Puppet

Start with ownership and form. A three-entry index gives less flexibility than Physical or Magical, and Toy Maker appears in the Exclusive rarity group on the current Unit List. Availability can therefore decide the choice before theory does. Check your inventory and the live obtainment sources rather than planning around a unit you cannot currently access.

Next, match Elements. Choose Toy Maker only after checking whether Dark is suitable for the target stage. Choose Puppet or Puppet (Telekinetic) only after checking Light. Then compare their live roles: placement cost, first useful upgrade, attack pattern, range, effects and boss contribution. Do not infer telekinesis, control duration or target count from the form name alone.

If you own both Puppet forms, treat them as separate units. Confirm whether Telekinetic is an evolution, alternate form or other current path in the live interface, and read what is consumed or retained before acting. The base portrait shown here is for identification and does not claim identical stats.

Building a team around Psychic

Because no designated Psychic buffer is documented, build around jobs rather than a mono-Archetype multiplier. Use one Psychic unit when its neutral stage treatment, Element and kit solve a specific problem. Fill other slots with an opener, sustained damage, boss coverage, control or economy as the mode requires.

A mixed-Archetype team can be safer when a stage punishes one group. Keep the successful pieces of your roster and replace only the slot affected by the rule. If a Physical or Magical stage buff is stronger than the practical benefit of neutrality, use the favored Archetype instead. The live modifier text decides.

To test Psychic fairly, run the same map with the same trait, equipment, party size and upgrade order. Replace only the candidate slot. Record the first leak, boss defeat time and cash pressure. This reveals whether neutral treatment mattered or whether a different cost curve caused the result.

When Psychic is not the answer

Do not force Psychic simply because it sounds safe. The roster is small, has no designated buffer and may not cover every account need. If the stage explicitly favors Physical, open the Physical guide. If it favors Magical or your account needs its broader Element coverage, use the Magical guide.

When no Archetype rule is shown, compare actual unit performance. A well-matched opener or boss unit from another Archetype can be more useful than a Psychic unit that does not fill the missing job.

Psychic mistakes to avoid

  • Interpreting “undebuffed in stages” as immunity to every enemy effect or control mechanic.
  • Forgetting that Psychic units still have Dark or Light Elements in the current index.
  • Expecting a dedicated Psychic buffer when the overview explicitly says none is designated.
  • Assuming Puppet and Puppet (Telekinetic) are identical because one base portrait is shown.
  • Planning around Toy Maker without confirming current availability.
  • Calling Psychic universally best because the roster is described as neutral.
  • Comparing units under different traits, equipment or party conditions.

Psychic FAQ

How many Psychic units are documented?

Three entries: Toy Maker, Puppet and Puppet (Telekinetic).

Is Psychic immune to stage debuffs?

The checked overview says Psychic remains undebuffed in stages. Treat that as the current Archetype design statement, but verify each live modifier and do not extend it to every enemy mechanic without testing.

What unit buffs Psychic?

The reference overview says Psychic intentionally has no designated buffer. There is no documented direct equivalent to The Hero or Forbidden Teacher in the checked snapshot.

Is Toy Maker better than Puppet?

The Archetype index does not establish a ranking. Compare availability, current form, Element, cost, range, target pattern, effects and the stage you need to clear.
