Evolution turns a documented base unit into a named form, but the real decision happens before you press confirm. You need the correct copy, the current result preview, every displayed material, enough Gold or other currency, and a plan for traits, potential and equipment. A community recipe is useful for preparation; the live Evolution menu is the authority for the transaction.
Current community documentation places Evolve in the Lobby’s Upgrades Room. It records 17 form relationships. Exact recipes found across public guides do not always agree, so every item and quantity remains a live-check field even when a worked community-wiki recipe is shown.
Go to the Evolution menu
Return to the Lobby, follow the signage or interface to the Upgrades Room, then choose Evolve. Select the intended base unit and read the result name at the top of the preview. If the expected form is not displayed, stop: a missing requirement, wrong copy, unavailable route or updated interface cannot be fixed by following an old screenshot.
Favorite the unit before entering the menu. Confirm its form, level, potential and trait. Unequip items only when the game asks. Then read the full preview from top to bottom, including every consumed material and any warning about what carries over.
For the exact confirmation sequence, open How to evolve units safely.
Documented evolution form index
The relationships below are a community-wiki/current-guide index, not a guarantee that every route is available in every live server. Cards without images intentionally avoid showing base art as though it were evolved-form art.

Worked community-wiki recipe: Crow (Black Fire)
The Crow (Black Fire) wiki entry lists this recipe:
These numbers are useful for estimating a farm, but the live preview can supersede them. Other public recipe lists conflict, so this hub does not invent or merge quantities for the remaining 16 relationships.
Evolution material families
Items such as Crow’s Ring, 8th’s Sword, Puppet Heart or Jaw Skull can point to a unit family. Only the live result panel confirms the actual recipe.
Match color and quantity exactly. Similar icons make the item name essential.
Preserve scarce shared materials until the target evolution is confirmed.
Leave enough for unit upgrades and other account progress. A completed recipe is not useful if the resulting team cannot be deployed.
Use the Items hub to identify icons and separate evolution materials from rerolls, equipment and event currency.
Which unit should you evolve first?
Choose the evolution that removes the next repeatable progression wall. If early waves leak, evolving another expensive carry may not help. Improve the opener or choose a form with an affordable useful breakpoint. If the boss survives, prioritize a form whose live attack and effect prove useful in that phase. If a mode requires a different element, archetype or status profile, fill that gap.
Availability and material overlap matter. A slightly lower community-ranked form can be the better first evolution when you already own its base and most materials. Compare candidates in Best Teams & Roles and the unit tier list, then return to the live previews.
Protect traits, potential and equipment
Before confirming, record the base unit’s trait, stat potential, level, lock/favorite state and equipment. Read what the interface says will remain. Do not assume another anime defense game’s retention rules apply here.
If equipment must be removed, do so and verify it returned to inventory. If a valuable trait might not carry over, stop and decide whether to evolve first or reroll later. The Traits hub explains why optimizing the long-term form is usually safer.
Material farming without waste
Start from the live recipe, not from a drop guide. Select one missing material, open its tooltip and inspect current mode or Shop sources. Confirm difficulty, act, reward type and whether the content is active. Farm one shortage at a time, rechecking the preview after updates.
Do not treat an icon in public assets as proof that it currently drops. Do not use a published drop rate unless the live experience or a dated reliable source supports it; all drop probabilities need in-game verification.
Common evolution mistakes
- Selecting the wrong duplicate or base form.
- Trusting an old exact recipe without opening the current preview.
- Confusing Sprite colors or unit-specific materials.
- Spending all Gold and leaving no budget to deploy or upgrade the form.
- Assuming traits, potential, level and equipment always carry over.
- Showing a base-form image as proof of an evolved form.
- Farming an inactive event or Raid source.
- Evolving a popular unit that does not address the account’s next wall.
Evolution FAQ
Where do I evolve units?
Current community documentation places Evolve in the Lobby’s Upgrades Room. Follow live signage because the lobby layout can change.
How many evolution relationships are documented?
Seventeen are indexed by current community records used for this page. That is not a guarantee that all are available, complete or unchanged in every live server.
Are the Crow recipe values exact?
They are exact values published on the Miraheze community-wiki entry and checked July 28, 2026: one Crow’s Ring, 20 each of Red/Yellow/Purple Sprites, three Rainbow Sprites and 10,000 Gold. Every value still needs confirmation in the live Evolve preview.
Does a trait carry over?
Do not assume it. Read the current preview and confirmation warning for the selected copy. Retention is treated as a live mechanic.
