The Magical Archetype marks units that deal Magical Archetype damage. The current community Wiki lists 27 separately named Magical units and forms, making it the largest of the three documented Archetype indexes in this snapshot. Magical is a damage family, not a promise of long range, area attacks, status effects or high rarity.
Every candidate still has an Element, form, cost curve and role to inspect. The Magical roster spans Dark, Hydro, Storm, Flame, Gale, Light and Neutral. Forbidden Teacher is described as having no Element. Read both labels when a stage names an Archetype and an elemental resistance.
Magical quick facts
Ten base units have a separately listed named form; seven additional names appear as single entries.
Forbidden Teacher's Teacher Blessing affects Magical units within range and is listed as increasing by 5% each upgrade.
Shadow (Divine)'s Shadow Realm is documented as a 25% Magical damage buff for 30 seconds with a 60-second cooldown.
A Magical team can diversify Elements, but it still needs affordable deployment, lane coverage and a boss plan.

Named forms are shown beside their base units. A base portrait identifies the family only; it is not a claim that the evolved form shares the same art, stats or ability set.

Forbidden Teacher: the range-based Magical buffer
Forbidden Teacher’s page describes a range-based Magical buffer with Teacher Blessing. The passive applies a damage buff to all Magical units within range and is listed as increasing by 5% each upgrade. The sentence does not publish the starting percentage, so this guide does not turn the upgrade count into an unsupported final total.
Build around the live radius, not around the word “global.” Place the Magical carries you intend to support inside the displayed range. Check whether a lane angle, boss coverage or early cash requirement makes that formation too expensive. Its reference page says Forbidden Teacher has no Element, so it supports the Archetype without filling a specific elemental damage matchup.
Shadow Realm: documented values and timing
Shadow (Divine) provides a different kind of Magical buff. Its Shadow Realm ability is documented as unlocking on Upgrade 7. On activation, the page says it applies a 25% damage buff to all Magical units for 30 seconds. The current reference lists a 60-second global cooldown and marks Auto-Use as true.
Those values make timing important. A 30-second effect is not permanent coverage, even with a 60-second listed cooldown. If Auto-Use remains enabled in the live build, watch whether it triggers before the wave or boss moment you wanted. If the interface allows control, align the activation with the difficult damage window. Also confirm whether Teacher Blessing and Shadow Realm stack, refresh, replace each other or use another rule; the checked pages do not fully define that interaction.
Shadow Realm also has enemy-repositioning text on the unit page, but that mechanic is separate from the Archetype buff. Do not promise that every boss or modifier is affected. Read the current ability panel and test the target stage.
Build a Magical roster by Element and role
Magical has broad Element coverage. Dark contains many named high-rarity forms, Hydro includes Dark Mage, Ice Queen, Water Princess and Ice Mage, Storm includes Elf Mage, Kid Assassin and Thunder Shinobi, and the roster also reaches Flame, Gale, Light and Neutral. Use that variety to avoid concentrating every damage slot into an explicitly resisted Element.
Start with an affordable opener. Then choose sustained lane damage and a boss answer. Add Forbidden Teacher only when enough important Magical units fit its radius and the economy supports it. Add Shadow (Divine) for its actual full kit, not solely because a guide lists a 25% buff. A support slot must improve the run more than a second carry or control option would.
Check every named form separately. Crow (Black Fire), Shadow (Divine), Crimson (Brother), True Saint (Holy), Cursed Immortal (Black Sun), Dark Mage (Sovereign), Elf Mage (Unleashed), Flame Emperor (Reincarnate), Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) and String Demon (Awakened) are distinct indexed entries. The Unit List and existing detailed guides help identify them, while the live inventory supplies current stats and abilities.
When to switch away from Magical
Switch when a stage explicitly debuffs or resists Magical, or when your available Magical roster cannot meet the early cost curve. A buffed late carry still loses if enemies leak before it can be placed. Compare Physical for a broad alternative roster and Psychic for the neutral design documented by the Wiki.
If no Archetype rule appears, test by role. Keep stage, trait, equipment, party size and upgrade order constant. Replace one unit at a time and record whether the change solves early leaks, boss timing or special enemies.
Magical mistakes to avoid
- Assuming Magical automatically means ranged, area damage or status effects.
- Treating every Dark unit as Magical without checking both fields.
- Calculating a maximum Teacher Blessing value from an unstated base.
- Calling Shadow Realm permanent when the reference says 30 seconds.
- Ignoring its 60-second listed cooldown and Auto-Use timing.
- Assuming two Magical buffs stack without a current in-game test.
- Filling every slot with expensive named forms and losing the opening waves.
Magical FAQ
How many Magical entries are documented?
The checked Magical index lists 27 names and forms across 17 base portrait groups.
What units buff Magical teams?
Forbidden Teacher provides a range-based passive for Magical units. Shadow (Divine) provides the timed Shadow Realm ability. Their exact live interaction requires testing.
What are the Shadow Realm buff values?
The checked reference page lists 25% Magical damage for 30 seconds, a 60-second global cooldown, unlock at Upgrade 7 and Auto-Use true.
Is Magical the best Archetype?
It has the largest documented roster in this snapshot, but roster size is not a universal power ranking. Stage rules, account ownership, cost and team roles decide the practical choice.
